ECLIPSE explores darkness not as an absence of light, but as a condition of perception.
Drawing from the astronomical phenomenon in which light is temporarily obscured, the work reconsiders darkness as the perceived obstruction of light from a point of view.
In a time marked by complexity and disorientation, darkness is often experienced as the disappearance of light. ECLIPSE shifts this perspective, suggesting instead that darkness is a temporary diminishment in our ability to perceive light from where we look.
The work unfolds as a visual metaphor for the present, reflecting on how perception is shaped by position, and how temporary conditions can obscure what persists beyond immediate visibility. Darkness is not presented as an opposing force, but as a temporary alignment - an obstruction that conceals rather than eliminates.
Beyond it, light continues.
SET UP & EXPERIENCE
Projected onto a fine mist of water, the image appears suspended in air - at once present and elusive. Subtle movements in air and water continuously reshape what is seen, shifting between clarity and dissolution.
A laser, projected from the audience’s side, introduces a directional presence of light - suggesting a line of perception shaped by where we stand, and connecting the viewer to the work.
Accompanied by a bespoke sound score, the work creates spatial and poetic experience, inviting reflection on how we perceive darkness. And how, beyond it, light persists.
